🗳️ Monday Poll Results
Every Monday, we gather insights from our community through a LinkedIn poll. Sometimes, the poll decides which company to feature in our upcoming Tear-up series, and other times, it's all about market trends and company-related topics.
This week’s Poll
We wanted to know how our community prefers to be recognised when they add value to our network, whether by contributing to our due diligence process or by referring someone.
Here’s what they thought:

In response to our community’s feedback, we're introducing a new way to credit our valuable contributors. Depending on the deal and who the deal lead is, we'll be happy to refer people to join in on carry opportunities outside of Community VC. Plus, we've just launched our Referral Program, giving you even more incentives to get involved:
3 referrals: Gain access to our private WhatsApp syndicate channel.
10 referrals: Enjoy a private deck review, whether you're in the process of capital raising or investing.
15 referrals: Get a 30-minute one-on-one call with Jock about anything related to angel investing or capital raising.
30 referrals: Earn a spot on the Investment Committee for the next Tear-up and secure a place on the selection list for future Tear-ups.
60 referrals: Have the opportunity to pick the company for the next Tear-up, including the possibility to choose your own.

🦄 STACKRANK ADDITIONS
This week, we're diving deeper into one of our recent additions from last week's stackrank updates: Nebulae - Redefining Online Strategy Gaming.
TL;DR
🌍 Country: France
🎯 Type: Gaming
🎲 The Bet: Banking on a dedicated fan base to elevate Nebulae to the ranks of gaming giants like Rise of Kingdoms and Eve Online.
🌟 The Wow: Nebulae boasts an incredible User-Generated Experience (UOE) and a deep complexity that sets it apart.
Due Diligence Notes
Nebulae introduces politics into the gaming world, offering a unique and immersive experience. It tackles real-life issues, transforming them into engaging gameplay, from politics to environmental scenarios.
The game's most dedicated players share a common trait - a passion for politics. They immerse themselves in leaderboards and collaborate in clan wars, creating a political landscape beyond the game.
In 2019, Pavel moderated Russia's largest political game, engaging a staggering 7.5 million players.
The game generates revenue through a "free-to-play" model and has already sold 42,000 in-game cosmetics, with $450 in earnings (doubling their funding from French grants).
Even the French Department of Defence has recognised Nebulae's potential, using the game to simulate and test political scenarios.
In 2021, they realised their game and in 2022, it achieved an impressive 56 NPS, currently available on Android only.
New user acquisition cost - 50 cents.
12-month cyclical game.
They raised $1 million, oversubscribed to $2 million at a $5 million pre-money valuation. This capital will propel them far beyond launch.
They're currently in open beta, with one-third of the game live. Their next step is a cross-platform launch to PC, with a goal of reaching 3 million monthly users by the end of 2024.
So how will they manage and realise the returns? Might involve a buyout?
Current Investment: Lance East Family Office
If you know anyone looking to diversify their deal flow, refer them to Community VC.

📖 Weekly learning
Have you ever had one of those Monday mornings when you glance at your calendar and it seems to scream, "WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"? A packed schedule with 10 hours of back-to-back tasks, no room for breaks. The key to mastering your week is simple - focus on the absolute essentials that drive your success. Imagine if you woke up and dedicated your time to these critical tasks every day, ignoring the rest; you'd undoubtedly excel.
You've probably created a quarterly plan outlining how to increase the top-of-funnel leads or close a specific number of deals. So why aren't you exclusively working on those vital tasks and disregarding the distractions? The answer often lies in a lack of clarity.
Now, let's dive into how to identify those essential tasks and ensure you clear away the clutter without causing chaos. To make it relatable, let's assume your business is relatively well-organised in terms of generating revenue and your contributions. Allow me to illustrate with my own example, as I've managed to get some aspects of my life together.
For me, I have two core strengths:
Extensive Networks: I have access to key figures in the Australian and New Zealand venture scenes, as well as deep connections in the global domains of Sportstech, Sextech, Media, Web3, and ESG.
Resilience and Founder Relations: Having weathered significant setbacks and overcome obstacles, I can relate to founders on a unique level, understanding more than most what they're going through.
Now, if our business model hinges on maintaining this reputation and leveraging my strengths, it's clear that just one valuable post per day to keep the network engaged and one founder meeting per day to ensure a high-quality pipeline is all I need. By focusing on these fundamental daily tasks, I free up my mental space to provide value to the best founders, investors, and contributors within the CVC community.

✨ VALUE ADDS
🗝 Experienced Investor Certificate (EIC)
Not all of us can invest in every deal type globally and that's because we don't all have $2.5m in net assets or have earned $250k/pa for the last 3 years.
Some of us however love venture and know lots about it. If that sounds like you, let me know and I can hook you up with an (EIC) form that allows you (if you pass the test) to invest in all kinds of deals (including through syndicates).
🎄Example carry calculator
Since posting opportunities for accessing some of the investment community roles through Carry, I've had a number of questions come through about how to calculate it.
Please find an example calculator here.
💰 Venture portfolio approach
Often people think Venture is uber-risky or out of their depth. It's not true, anyone can do it - you just need a model to get you going. Check out the Venture portfolio model attached - and reach out if you need more context!
At the Community VC, we believe investing should be accessible to everyone, not just those in the know. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to invest and contribute to vetted ventures that move the world forward.

Please do not take this as Financial advice or a guide of what any outcome will be. This isn't financial advice, nothing in this email is, I am not guaranteeing or recommending an investment or outcome in anything. I am simply just listing opportunities I believe should be accessible to everyone.
